Q: What can I expect from an oil change at Apex? How much does it cost?

A: Our oil changes include a traditional “drain and fill” of up to 5 quarts of oil, replacement of the oil filter, and a free tire rotation. Depending on the vehicle’s specifications, you have your choice between a Conventional, Synthetic Blend, and Full Synthetic oil change. Additional charges may apply for cartridge filters, fluid/filter disposal, and for vehicles requiring more than 5 quarts of oil.

Q: What is Diagnostics? How long does it take?

A: Diagnostics is research performed by a technician to reveal issues within a car’s major components as well as performance issues. This procedure is an examination to determine specific problem areas to determine a condition and what is needed to rectify the concern. Diagnostics generally take about an hour to start to ensure all issues are addressed. This may take longer depending on the severity of the concern.

Q: What is the difference between Diagnostics and a Rack Fee?

A: Diagnostics deals with major engine components and performance concerns. A Rack Fee covers a test drive of your vehicle, putting the vehicle on a lift, and having the technician perform a visual inspection of the vehicle as well as evaluating mechanical components such as brakes, suspension, exhaust, and so on.

Q: How do I know if I need a tune-up?

A: Each vehicle has a different manufacturer recommendation for when a tune-up is needed. You may notice your vehicle starts to run rough, the engine may be misfiring, or the check engine light may come on. We would recommend having the vehicle inspected before performing a tune-up to ensure this will solve the problem.

Q: How often do I need an alignment?

A: We recommend your wheel alignment be checked twice per year as a preventative maintenance measure for your vehicle. A minor misalignment, if left unresolved, can easily lead to costly repair bills.

Q: What is Preventative Maintenance?

A: Preventative Maintenance is regular services your vehicle requires per manufacturer specifications to keep your car running as long as possible. These checks are generally recommended at the 30k/60k/90k mile mark. This maintenance typically includes replacing engine and air filters, brake and brake fluid checks, mechanical inspections, tune-ups, alignment, light checks, battery checks, fuel system cleanings, etc.

A: To ensure we give our customers the best service and most transparent communication, we welcome any vehicle manufactured within the last 20 years – for vehicles older than this we recommend seeing a dealership or specialist.
